A unique community event with outstanding experts from business and research

M&A Summit incl. M&A Award

The German M&A Association has set a benchmark with this event. Over the course of two days, experts from corporates and consulting worked together with academics to address various challenges from corporate practice. The winners for their successful transactions were also honoured at the evening event! A further development of the award ceremony is already planned for 2024! You can look forward to it!

In July, mandaco organised the M&A Summit 2023 at the Haus der Bayerischen Wirtschaft in Munich. The event also included the 20th anniversary of the Bundesverband Mergers & Acquisitions gem. e.V. (BM&A) and the newly launched M&A Awards.

During the two-day event, companies discussed with each other and with representatives from academia and practice on currently relevant topics in the industry, focussing on five areas: "Acting strategically, being successful: Decision-making in the M&A process", "Change and Transform: M&A as a catalyst for change", "Transactions in times of multi-crisis", "Regulation and M&A: Drivers of change in M&A" and "At the interface between transaction and integration".

In keynotes, panel discussions and workshops, each topic was dealt with in depth and examined from different perspectives. The participants chose from a variety of workshops and thus their individual thematic focus for each of the five main topics. The exchange of ideas among the participants was encouraged during the networking breaks.

The evening event celebrated the 20th anniversary of BM&A and the first presentation of the M&A Awards. The following companies were honoured in four categories: Körber AG won in the category "Best Transformation Strategy", SAP received the M&A Award for "Best M&A Playbook", Siemens AG for "Best Strategy Implementation" and Medios AG was honoured for "Best M&A Production".

The jury consisted of the experts Klaus Ort (EY), Wilhelm Mickerts (Grant Thornton) and Dr Barbara Mayer (ADVANT Beiten). The nomination process was coordinated and the interviews were conducted by the experts Prof Dr Florian Bauer (University of Bristol Management School) and Alexander Griesmeier (Grant Thornton).
