Retrospective on the French-German Insurance Event hosted by Combuyn in collaboration with the French Fusions & Acquisitions magazine and its German counterpart M&A REVIEW magazine.

On June 13th, around 70 experts from the fields of W&I insurance, law, and asset management from leading European market players gathered in the heart of Paris, at the fabulous hotel Shangri-La.

The event began with an insightful keynote on the current M&A insurance market and the latest trends from both European and US perspectives, delivered by Ms. Sophie Javary from BNP Paribas. She offered a detailed analysis of the current M&A insurance market, highlighting trends and perspectives from both European and US markets. Her address set the tone for the event, emphasizing the importance of adapting to market changes and the evolving needs of clients.

Following this informative introduction, the event continued with discussion sessions featuring the sector’s key players, including lawyers, insurance brokers, and asset managers:

  • Session 1: Developments in the European M&A Insurance Market

    The first panel, moderated by Dr. Philipp Giessen from Marsh, tackled the latest developments in the M&A insurance market in Europe.
    The session featured distinguished speakers:

    - Ms. Audrey Levy-Corcos (Marsh)
    - Ms. Jessie Gaston (Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP)
    - Mr. Juan Manuel Velazquez (Tokio Marine HCC)

    The panelists discussed emerging trends, regulatory changes, and innovative insurance solutions designed to meet the unique challenges of the European market.

  • Session 2: M&A Insurance Products

    The second roundtable session, moderated by Mr. Raphael Roditi from WTW, covered M&A insurance products.

  • Session 3: Underwriting and Claims Practices

    The third panel, hosted by Dr. Markus Messinger from Liberty Mutual Global Risk Solutions, discussed current sector trends and the latest developments in underwriting and claims practices in Europe.

  • Session 4: Real Case Study

    Moving from theory to practice, Ms. Beatriz Pavón Sánchez de la Blanca (WTW) iintroduced the real case study, focusing on the challenges and difficulties faced by brokers and lawyers in international deals.
    The discussion featured the following experts:

    - Ms. Birgit Rummel (Tokio Marine HCC)
    - Ms. Charline Bretagne (WTW)
    - Ms. Laura Godard from Dentons

    Focused on the challenges faced by brokers and lawyers in international deals, the discussion highlighted the complexities and differing approaches in various jurisdictions, providing practical insights for professionals involved in cross-border transactions.

The event concluded with a cocktail reception on the terrace of the wonderful venue, the Shangri-La Hotel in the heart of Paris, offering a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower. This provided attendees with a valuable networking opportunity to discuss the day's insights and forge new professional connections.
